2SD is a medium viscosity, oil-based vehicle that exhibits excellent abrasive suspension properties. When combined with SiC abrasive (up to 50% by weight), it is ready for use in bevel gear lapping machines (e.g. Gleason, Klingelnberg) to mate the ring and pinion set. The base compound is a proprietary blend of oils, suspension agents, extreme pressure additives, and emulsifying agents. 2SD is mixed with silicon carbide abrasive in a size that matches the customer’s surface finish requirements. Typical sizes include F180, F240, and F320.
